The Histiocytosis Association operates with a small, but highly efficient staff to deliver essential programs and services to its approximately 7,000 members. The Association’s Volunteer Program, formally established in 2009, provides substantial resources to meet the ongoing needs of the community. It also offers Association members meaningful ways to get involved. From education and service to ambassadorship and outreach, there are a multitude of opportunities to join the fight. And almost every volunteer position is virtual – it can be done from anywhere.
Given the significant role that volunteers hold within the organization, the Association is deeply committed to excellence in recruitment, recognition and retention. As such, the Association has developed detailed position descriptions, established governing policies and procedures, and implemented a comprehensive training program for the volunteer corps. The Association asks those who are interested in joining the corps to participate in a formal application process, helping to ensure that the volunteer program is operating at maximum efficiency.
