THE BIG SCREENING A movie screening and reception is being held at the Sheraton Birmingham on Saturday, May 5th to help raise awareness and to continue the efforts to raise much needed research funds for the Histiocytosis Association of America (HAA). A cross-country bicycle ride -THE BIG FIX- was held last summer which raised more than $300,000 to help the HAA to underwrite research grants into histiocytic disorders and to expand funding for family support porgrams. THE BIG FIX was filmed throughout the month-long trip from Davis, California to Boston, Massachusetts. THE BIG FIX Movie Screening Local families also will share their stories about histiocytosis. THE BIG RECEPTION Includes appetizers, desserts, juices, coffee and soft drinks. Histiocytosis is a rare blood disease which occurs when excess of white blood cells called histiocytes cluster together in the form of lesions and attack various parts of the body. Because this illness is so rare, it is often referred to as an "orphan disease", meaning that it strikes too few people to generate government supported research. You can purchase tickets to the screening and/or the reception and learn more about the event by contacting Michael Golding (216) 235-3005 or mgolding@sydneyfund.org. The Sydney Salem Golding Fund
