Histiocytosis Association Seeks New Executive Director

Leading community for histiocytic disorders seeks passionate visionary.

PITMAN, NJ, November 14, 2019 – The Histiocytosis Association seeks an experienced and dynamic leader to serve as its next executive director. The mission of the Association is to raise awareness about histiocytic disorders, provide educational and emotional support to the community, and to fund research leading to better treatments and a cure.

Histiocytic disorders are considered “orphan diseases.” An orphan disease is one that affects fewer than 1 in 200,000 individuals in the United States. Subsequently, these disorders do not receive a high priority for government-funded research. The Association relies on contributions from corporations, foundations, and individual donors to fund critical research, build awareness and conduct community outreach initiatives.

The next executive director will provide visionary leadership to a growing, global organization that has a strong network of supporters committed to empowering the patients and families who live with histiocytic disorders.

“The Association is celebrating the well-deserved retirement of its founder and longtime president, Jeffrey Toughill. We are eternally grateful for Jeff’s leadership and vision; the Association has become a beacon of hope for the entire Histio Community. The board is committed to identifying a leader that will leverage the wonderful organization we have and inspire us to new and exciting heights.” said James Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
